Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are a wonderful alternative to wearing eyeglasses.  When properly prescribed and fitted, they provide excellent clarity, unrestricted peripheral vision with none of the limitations of glasses.

At Belcara Health, we offer a wide selection of lenses, including disposable soft contact, bifocal/multifocal, toric, and colored lenses. Whether you wear daily, weekly or monthly disposables, or conventional (vial) lenses, we will recommend the best fitting lens based on your lifestyle needs, the shape and health of your eye, and level of correction required.

To ensure your contacts fit well and are appropriate for your eye’s health and vision needs,  you must first have a thorough eye exam. Contact lenses are medical devices and can only be purchased with a prescription.

What to Expect

During your appointment, we will evaluate the health of your eyes for any irregularity, examine your corneas and assess your tears for Dry Eye. The curvature of your eye’s cornea will be measured, to help select the proper curve and size contact lenses.

You will have the opportunity to try on lenses for vision and comfort. Wearing your trial lenses, we will evaluate the alignment and movement of the lenses as they rest on the surface of your eyes, to ensure that they fit well.

Once you find contact lenses that fit properly, feel comfortable and provide good vision, your eye doctor will write your prescription. The prescription designates the contact lens level of correction, size, and shape. Because proper lens care is very important to your eye health, we instruct all our patients on how to properly handle, clean and store your lenses.

Follow Up Visits

During your follow up visit, we will evaluate your eyes to ensure your contact lenses are not damaging your eye’s surface. It usually takes 1-2 follow-up visits to complete an uncomplicated new contact lens fitting. After that, we recommend you have your eyes examined annually to monitor the health of your eyes. The condition of your eyes can change over time, so it’s important to ensure your prescription is correct and that there are no concerns that might interfere.
