Aging is inevitable, but aging well is something we can control. The science and technology of skincare has become so advanced that we can now enhance, refine and restore our individual beauty in ways that were never possible. In addition, well-established procedures, a proliferation of next-generation surgical and non-surgical anti-aging solutions are now available, providing patients with a variety of customizable options. These include preventative treatments for those in their 20’s and 30’s and restorative procedures for those looking to reverse the effects of time and gravity.
When I meet with a client for the first time, we collectively discuss the different options that make sense for the client. I provide specific recommendations based on a thorough examination, evaluation of goals and expectations, and consideration of the budget, timetable, and lifestyle of my client. Below are some of the different procedures/treatments I may recommend, along with my tips for maintaining the desired look at home.
Facelift – A facelift will restore balance and help you look like a refreshed, more youthful version of yourself. A facelift will re-establish the natural curves and lines of the cheeks, face, jawline, and neck, without disruption or irregularities, and restore lost facial volume to create a natural-looking, youthful appearance.
Eyelid Surgery – The eyes are a major factor when it comes to looking younger. Eyelid surgery can reduce under-eye puffiness, reduce sagging, wrinkled skin on the upper eyelids, and soften wrinkles in a way that looks natural. Your eyes should reflect on how you feel – rested, youthful, and confident.
Facial Fat Transfer – Fat transfer is an effective, all-natural way to restore a plump, youthful appearance to the face. It involves removing a patient’s own fat from one area of the body, such as the abdomen, buttocks or thighs, and applying it strategically to enhance facial fullness, improve contours, and soften the lines and wrinkles on the face. By utilizing the patient’s own fat, the natural-looking results can last longer and age-appropriately with the patient.
Facial Skin Rejuvenation Treatments, such as Microdermabrasion, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), Chemical Peels, Microneedling, and Dermaplaning are fantastic anti-aging procedures. By removing the damaged outer layers of skin, stimulating the production of elastin and collagen, and reducing discoloration, these procedures can restore a smoother, clearer, healthier, more youthful complexion.
Microneedling + PRP Therapy- This new, innovative technique provides faster recovery and better results than some of the traditional forms of Microneedling. PRP Therapy is relatively new to anti-aging skincare, but orthopedic surgeons and wound care specialists have been using PRR therapy for its injury healing properties for many years. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), derived from the client’s own blood, contains a concentration of growth factors that the body uses to heal and build collagen. When combined with Microneedling, PRP Therapy accelerates the body’s natural healing processes and improves overall treatment results.
Laser Treatments use thermal energy to stimulate natural collagen growth and skin cell turnover to improve pigment irregularities, textural problems, lines, and wrinkles. Deeper treatments require more downtime for healing but yield more significant anti-aging improvements.
Injectables– Easily the most popular anti-aging treatments today, injectables restore volume and diminish lines and wrinkles for a younger, more refreshed appearance. BOTOX is used to relax facial muscles, allowing the skin to remain smooth, minimizing lines and wrinkles. Dermal Fillers are used to restore lost facial volume, enhance the lips, and correct wrinkles, folds, and scars. A “Liquid Facelift” refers to a combination of injectables – as well as fat transfer procedures using your own natural fat –for subtle facial contouring, correcting wrinkles, and restoring lost volume.
Hair Restoration – Hair changes with age, just like your skin and the rest of your body. Declining sebum production causes hair to feel dryer; waning pigment cells cause grey hair; increased shedding and less growth cause thinning hair. Fortunately, there are many hair restoration techniques available today. One groundbreaking new solution is PRP Therapy for Hair Loss. Similarly, to PRP therapy for the face, the technique uses enriched PRP cells from your own blood to stimulate hair growth through scalp injection. Another is technique is NeoGraft, which involves gently removing individual hair follicles, then strategically placing them as needed to create a full, youthful hairline. Neograft uniquely involves no incisions, stitches, or staples, making for a more comfortable and quick recovery with no visible scars.
At Home Care
The keys to healthy, glowing skin at any age are healthy living and a consistent, at-home skincare regime. Proper nutrition and regular exercise are critical for maintaining your appearance. Without the proper nutrients, movement, and sleep, your body will not function at an optimal level. Daily application of a broad-spectrum sunscreen, SPF of 30+, is a must because unprotected sun exposure can rapidly age the skin. Skincare Products that contain essential anti-aging ingredients – such as antioxidants, retinol, vitamins C and E, Alpha-hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Salicylic acid, and hyaluronic acid- can help to preserve your skin and reverse signs of aging.
Overall, my best anti-aging advice is to take the time to care for the skin you’ve been given, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and seek out a qualified specialist for advice on customized treatment options that fit your goals, lifestyle, and finances. You are unique, and your treatment plan should meet your individual needs.
Before you begin considering your treatment options, I highly recommend you take the time to find the right practice and specialists. To be confident with your results, you must have confidence in your medical team. Research the professional qualifications and experience of the practitioners who will be treating you, read what others have said about them, make sure you feel comfortable with the environment. Once selected, the practice and specialists you select will recommend the right treatments, or combination of treatments, to help you turn back the clock and achieve your goals.
