Dr. Cohen Interviewed on Patient Safety Issues

Our own Dr. Michael Cohen was interviewed recently on the importance of reviewing the credentials of any facility or provider under consideration for a cosmetic procedure.

On September 17, a patient at Monarch Med Spa in Timonium contracted a bacterial infection after having a liposuction procedure. Monarch Medspa was closed by the Maryland Department of Health after the tragic death of this Monarch client. Two other patients also contracted group A Streptococcus infections after liposuction at Monarch but recovered. Facilities like the Monarch Medspa are not required to be licensed by the state of Maryland.

In each interview, Dr. Cohen stresses the importance of reviewing the credentials of any facility or provider under consideration for a cosmetic procedure, as he feels “there is no such thing as minor surgery.” Please use the links below to see his interviews with two local television stations.
