How does Mirconeedling work?

A microneedling device contains tiny micro-needles that is used to create microscopic channels in the skin. These “micro-injuries” stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, substances that give our skin the flexibility, strength, and volume it needs to look healthy, firm, smooth, and youthful.

The micro-channels also allow any solution or product applied after the microneedling treatment to penetrate deeper into the skin, increasing their effectiveness. With your microneedling treatment, you will receive a kit of specialized products that are designed to continue stimulating the production of collagen and elastin in your skin. It’s very important to use the products as instructed to achieve your desired outcome.

Microneedling + PRP Therapy = even better results

Rejuvenate your skin by harnessing your body’s own healing power.

Your microneedling results can be even better with the addition of PRP Therapy. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), derived from your own blood, contains a concentration of growth factors that your skin uses to heal and build collagen. For many years, PRP Therapy has been used by orthopedic surgeons and wound care specialists for its injury healing properties. By harnessing the regenerative power of your own natural plasma, PRP Therapy accelerates the body’s natural healing processes and restores a firmer, smoother, clearer, more youthful-looking complexion.

The PRP is obtained by drawing a small amount of blood from the patient’s arm. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge where the platelet-rich plasma is separated from the other blood cells. During and following the microneedling treatment, the PRP is applied to the treatment area to provide even better results.

Microneedling with PRP has many benefits, including:

  • Reduces the appearance of large pores, sunspots, and scars
  • Evens skin tone, texture
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks
  • Gives the skin a fresh glow

Am I a good candidate for Microneedling?

Microneedling with PRP is appropriate for anyone who wants to improve the appearance of their skin. It can be used in several different areas of the body, including the face, neck, arms, décolleté, arms, abdomen, back, hands and legs. It is safe for all skin types and can be adjusted to meet your individual needs – a great solution for people with darker skin types and those for whom laser treatments would be inappropriate.

Microneedling Recovery

Most patients describe the treatment as very tolerable, with slight discomfort in more sensitive areas. After the procedure, your skin will be red and flushed in appearance, like a moderate sunburn. You may also experience tightness and mild sensitivity to touch. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatment. Some redness can last up to 3 days. As your body’s natural collagen production has been stimulated, you should see the texture and quality of your skin continue to improve for up to six months.

Treatment Recommendations

Typically a series of 3 treatments, at 4-week intervals, is recommended – depending upon your area of concern and treatment goals. Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, may require 6 or more treatments to achieve the desired results.
