Dr. Michael Cohen comments on a recent FDA statement about the longevity of breast implants. The recent FDA statement suggests that 1 in 5 women with breast implants will need to replace them within 10 years. Dr. Cohen states that this is only the case for a small percentage of women (about 20%).

The reasons for replacing breast implants can vary, and often times it’s for elective reasons like wanting to changes sizes or switching their saline implants for silicone. Dr. Cohen confirms that it is safe for the vast majority of women to keep breast implants in for more than 10 years. With that being said, he suggests that women check their implants regularly for changes and to see their doctor if they have any concerns.
